We are Shirley – September Edition

Shirley Shows

Sept sees us return to the Bullingdon Arms on Sept 11th playing with Tom Hingley of Inspiral Carpets.

Following the resounding success of last month's show at Po Na Na, we've been offered a monthly residency, which we're excited about. The Shirley story started at Po Na Na with our first show, so our nights there are always laced with a certain nostalgia.

To avoid disappointment, remember to always check with our website before travelling.

News

Airplay - We've had some more local airplay of late courtesy of Fusion FM

'French Connection' - continuing the band's strong association with extreme sports, French design company Kaleo have used a Shirley track on a kite surfing DVD. We're awaiting full details, so watch this space.

Neil’s Trek - Continuing his exploration of world rhythms, new drummer Neil is off for a month from the 20th on a 400 mile trek in Spain, going from Bilboa to Santiago del Compostella.

New Songs - 'Beautiful Sober' and 'Baby When We Fight' are coming along nicely. We hope to have these worked into the live set real soon.

Website – New Features - coming soon - We're adding our 'Busker's Corner', designed to help buskers boost their earnings by including Shirley crowd-pleasers. Also, 'A Lot of People have been asking us..' will deal with FAQ's about the band. This will probably kick off with an update on Doc. Watch out also for crowd participation suggestions to enhance your enjoyment of our live shows!

Next Single - We're planning to release our next single early November. Full details to follow in next month's 'We are Shirley'.

It could be You!

Inside Shirley

This month’s special feature is on our new look, first paraded at the Po Na Na show. Our pursuit of a quintessentially British look with a tadge of dandiness led us to none other than Frederick Theak and their frilly dress shirts. With over a century of experience in producing quality men’s wear we needed look no further. Rumour has it that Frederick Theak are no longer trading; a sad indictment of the decline in Britain’s manufacturing sector. In case people are wondering why Neil wasn't wearing one, we decided that the unifying look would be just for the musicians in the band!
