We are Shirley - November Edition

Shirley Shows

This month it's all about Sunday's gig at the Zodiac supporting The Young Knives and The Rumblestrips. This is a MASSIVE gig for us and we've been rehearsing hard for it. Ugly kick off proceedings at 7.45 and then we're on at 8.30. Please be aware this is an all ticket gig. We have managed to get an additional 20 tickets. Any spare ones will be left with Neil at The Big Bang, Jericho. You may be able to get some via the Zodiac's Box Office (01865 420042 Mon-Sat 1-6), but it's looking like a sell-out.

Crowd Participation - We would appreciate it if you could get the lighters out for 'Shanghai My Heart'

To avoid disappointment, remember to always check with our website before travelling.

News

Airplay - Continuing our domination of the airwaves, BBC Radio Oxford played 'Lager Shandy Saved My Life' on Sat 8th Oct

French Connection - French design company Kaleo have used one of our songs for a TV program - KPWT - to be broadcast on Sky sport, ESPN, and Sport +. No doubt our French friends will let us know which song was used at some point in the not too distant future.

It could be You!

This month’s lucky winner of the Shirley prizedraw is Louise Holdersen

Everyone on our mailing list gets automatically entered each month, so if there’s someone out there you care about, make sure they sign up !

One of our previous winners recently attended one of our rehearsals. It was very emotional.

What's Up Doc?

Things a little quiet on the Doc front, but we understand he's doing well and popping back to Oxford quite regularly at weekends.

A lot of People have been asking us...

How Shirley can help make time in the kitchen more fun. Here's a Recipe from our drummer for Shirley Pie (prepared to 'Takes it like a man')
Firstly lay out the ingredients in a well organised and professional manner. ... Wait do not press play yet...
We recommend printing out our mugshots from the website and scattering them around the kitchen, to create a nice ambient atmosphere and leave you safe in the knowledge that we are there for you.
You might want to do a couple of warm up stretches first. Remember we will be rocking hard so take your time. A good rock out is the same as making a good cake. It’s all in the preparation.
Now counting down from 4,,3,,2,,1 Hit play...
Now place the flour into a large mixing bowl.. This with practice can be achieved before the opening lyrics. You have 2.37seconds before they start.
Place eggs (shell off) and sugar in with the flour.
That's it, now start to rotate those hips.
Here comes the chorus "Takes it Like..." This is your cue to start beating off the mixture. The 10.76 seconds of chorus should be ample to have that mixture beaten. However if you have not beaten off quick enough just rewind and scream those lyrics out. But remember beat, beat, beat.
Place in preheated oven at gas mark 6 and listen to 'Shotgun Pete' 13 times. Cake should be ready to enjoy with friends. Remember to let it cool a little, lest you burn those sweet lips.
