Tues 14th March sees us return to The Jericho Tavern following the success of our special Valentine's night. The Jericho Tavern is becoming a firm favourite with Shirley. The atmosphere is excellent and regularly showcases some of the hottest local acoustic talent. Congratulations to Cowboy Mod for running such a consistently excellent night. On this occasion we have decided to relinquish our usual headline slot, so make sure you get down early enough. It's all part of our policy of championing other local talent. We have some important industry bods coming to check us out, so your support, as always, would be greatly appreciated.

News

We're back on the radio on Thursday 2nd. Radio Oxide were keen to get us back on after their listening figures doubled last month. To listen in online visit www.oxfordstudentradio.com. We should be on shortly after 9.00 pm. 50-75% of the band are expected to be in attendance and rumour has it that some old favourites from the Shirley back catalogue will be given the acoustic treatment.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jan Power as booking agent and head of Promotion and Strategic Planning. Jan's input is being felt already. We are now very much a band with a plan. The quality of applicants was extremely high and Jan passed the meticulous screening process with flying colours. Neil particularly felt that Jan ticked all the necessary boxes. Our commiserations to all the unsuccessful applicants. We may be advertising for a head of choreography in the not too distant future.

Shirley will definitely be recording again in the foreseeable future. We are currently debating which studio to use as we're keen to capture the energy and impact of our live sound.

What products we use to style our hair. This month we focus on John : 'I've always been an ardent fan of Brylcreem (protein enriched) Recently I dabbled with VO5 Styling Gel, but must admit that I'm not so sold on the wet look, though I would say the firm hold never let me down. Interestingly, I acquired some FCUK Sculpting Hair Gel early this year and this has been a revelation for me. Not only does it provide long lasting control, but I really like the minimalistic black and white packaging - very stylish and it's really portable. Ideal for the man on the go!
