We are Shirley - September Edition

Shirley Shows

Our worldwide domination plan has started with focusing on less frequented parts of Oxfordshire. August saw us introduce the Shirley vibe to the RAF via Brize Norton and put Eynsham firmly on the musical map with Neil organising a successful charity gig at the Talbot. No charity gig would be complete without having some of the band's gear stolen. Our benevolence is such, that we wish the culprits success in their lives and hope that in some small way we may have helped them embark on their musical journey. Personally I would be looking to sell stuff on eBay as 'used by Shirley' but then again I wouldn't be in that position as my mumma taught me that stealing is wrong. Thankfully, no band members were shot at Brize Norton, so all in all a sucessful month

To avoid disappointment, remember to always check with our website before travelling.

News

It's studio time! We're back in this month to complete material for the forthcoming album. Exciting times indeed.

En route to RAF Brize Norton, Jan and John started penning a new song called 'The Curse of Tutankhamen'. Finishing touches have since been applied, including a riff using an ancient Egyptian scale. We wanted to explore the romantic aspects of Tut's life (an often misunderstood individual). Jan took the unprecedented measure of travelling to Egypt in person to research Tut's life in more detail

It could be You!

This month’s lucky winner of the Shirley prizedraw is Terry Wright

A lot of People have been asking us...

What we think of Andy Chipling? For those of you who don't know, Andy is the founder of the Paper Aircraft Association. We like Andy. He's done some great work and is currently working on an exciting project to launch 3 paper planes in space to help teach children about gravity and space. Of particular interest is the one that will be aimed into deep space with the idea that it will go on for ever. Andy's in touch with NASA, so looks like this is going to happen. We're hoping that Andy might consider using a Shirley flyer for future space missions (obviously including our website). The idea of increasing our fanbase beyond this planet is appealing. Our only concern is that it is estimated that the paper plane would pick up dangerous amounts of velocity - possibly reaching the incredible speed of 16,500 mph. Shirley like to keep things safe, so we might have to rethink our promotion strategy.
