March 2007 (List all) We are Shirley – March Edition
Shirley Shows
For those who've put their lives on hold, the wait is finally over. Vintage (arguably one of the most important albums for the decade thus far) is finally here! To celebrate the release we're having a launch party Thurs 15th March @ one of our favourite venues - The Jericho Tavern, Walton Street, Oxford.
Just to emphasise, the evening promises much more than the usual Shirley Show (not that there's anything ordinary about any Shirley Show), so make sure you're there. Needless to say, the album will be available to buy, complete with signing if desired, at a one-time only special concessionary price.
It's going to be a cracking night. We look forward to seeing you there. Let's party!!
To avoid disappointment, remember to always check with our myspace (www.myspace.com/shirleytheband) before travelling.
News
Vintage is here. Our gift to you. God bless.
Though touched by those feeling the need to precede our name with a definite article (i.e. a determiner that expresses specifity of reference) our name remains simply 'Shirley'. We apologise for any confusion caused at our last gig and confirm that though performing under the name 'The Shirley' it really was us and not some imposter outfit. There remains no Shirley tribute band as far as we know.
It could be You!
This month’s lucky winner of the Shirley prizedraw is Ali Provan.
Everyone on our mailing list gets automatically entered each month, so if there’s someone out there not on it, make sure they sign up!
January's winner Louise was overwhelmed when she received her copy of Vintage. Good luck in Scotland, Louise. Changing lives is what we're all about.
A lot of People have been asking us…
What if they can't make the launch party? Well, there are a number of options. For the less imaginative, you can order via our own site - www.shirleymusic.co.uk (for the more discerning fan)
Or, if you're feeling a little more adventurous, you could use a Robo-pigeon. In case you haven't heard, Chinese scientists have managed to implant small electrodes into the brain of pigeons, using electronic signals to control movement. Using a computer, you can command your feathered friend to fly right, left, up or down. Our mate Su Xuecheng from the Shandong University of Science and Technology could hardly contain his excitement 'It's the first successful experiment on a pigeon in the world.' Although we of Shirley do feel it's cruel to manipulate the brains of animals (a pigeon is not an inanimate remote-controlled toy after all), we just want to make the process of getting the album as effortless as possible.
