Shirley Wed
Sadly the Exeter Hall went into receivership this month, so we're looking to move our regular monthly 'Shirley Wed' nights to The Jericho Tavern. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ali for giving us the chance to run our own nights at The X and we wish her well. We're sure we'll be seeing her resurface in some guise on the local music scene in the not too distant future. We had some fantastic nights there. With the move to The Jericho Tavern, which should be sometime in April, comes a level of financial risk for us in hiring out the venue, so your support for these nights will be gratefully received. In return, we promise a great value night of top quality music and the chance to hear new Shirley material and an ever different headline set of exquisite joy!

Studio
This Sunday we had the good fortune of working with the legendary 'Geeze' at Warehouse studios in Kennington. We laid down two of our more recent tracks - 'Where are you Bella?' and live favourite 'Gallows Night'. These songs represent an exciting distilling of our style, which might be loosely defined as epic western romance! Look out for these songs soon on our myspace.

Video
Shooting for the Heavy Love video is now complete. As soon as the editing is done, we'll be using it to promote 'Heavy Love' as our forthcoming single.

It could be You!

This month's lucky winner of the Shirley prizedraw is Jim O'Meara
Don't forget everyone on our mailing list gets automatically entered each month, so don't miss out, make sure you're signed up. (http://www.shirleymusic.co.uk)

A lot of People have been asking us...

Whether the Belgian animator Peyo had in any way influenced our decision to get a female drummer? It's certainly an interesting theory, but we wholeheartedly deny any Gargamelesque plot to introduce a disruptive 'Smurfette' presence. Having said that, call us traditionalist, but we're not convinced by the idea of introducing a greater female presence for the forthcoming computer-animated 3D film, released later this year to mark the Smurfing half century. Though not averse to change, we feel that changing the sociocultural balance of Smurf village has the potential for causing havoc. It's something we're quite anxious about and certainly not something we'd mirror consciously were we to be implementing a Peyoist band personnel policy.
